Myself

1. When I look at this photo I think.  The subject is pensive and possibly concerned. The thing in this photo that stands out the most to me is the eyes. The eyes of this person are directly at the camera and provide a connection to whomever is looking at the photo.  I think the fact that the photo is in black and white intensifies the thought provoking pose of the subject.

2.  What I see in front of me is a black and white photo of someone.  The person is looking directly into the camera and has their chin resting on a hand with all fingers closed except for the fore finger. The person is wearing a black skin tight hat with a couple horizontal white stripes. He has long hair and a decent sized beard with no moustache.  The background is pitch black and a low amount of light on the subject shows that he is wearing a black shirt as well.  A large shadow is being cast on the left side of the person making the right side of the person very noticable.

3.  The composition of this photo is interesting because only a little of the subject's torso is showing and a white hand is leading your eyes to the middle of the photo. the line quality is good where it is defined and the color is in black and white with many shades of them showing.  The placement in space is interesting because of the background being the same color as most of the photo.

4.  This photo does tell a story.  It tells the story of everyone in the sense that you need to think about what you do before you do it.  Without thought, the world would be chaotic and disorderly.  A one word title for this photo would be-"Think."

5.  This photo connects very well with the works of Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres in the sense that it is a photo of a person.  Ingres was apparently fond of drawing and painting the human figure and this photo is of a person. It also has many different values like most of the works of Ingres.
